See, I am flying out to the Philippines to visit my parents. It's been a year since I have seen them, so that's part of the agenda. Also, I am renewing my visa, since I still am a student, and yet my current visa expires soon, I am renewing it while I am in Manila so that I have the ability to travel out of the country and get back in again should I need to do so.
What else is in store? I am visiting my grandmother. I haven't seen her in a year, and the last time I saw her she was so weak. I am not too looking forward to this, simply because I know that when I will see her, she won't be the cheerful awesome grandma I used to know when I was little.
I also am planning to get to know the Philippines a little better. Last year, I visited Banaue and Sagada by myself, as well as Corregidor Island with my parents. That was fun. I definitely enjoyed taking the overnight bus and heading out to the mountains by myself, just armed with my backpack.
This time, I am heading down south, to the middle of the country, where there are quite a few islands. I am going to increase my island count, by flying to a city, and exploring it. When I get tired, I'll head to the ferry terminal, find the earliest departure to some other island, and just board it until I get sick of the whole process. I find it embarrassing that I have been to several other countries all over the world and yet I haven't been traveling my own.
So that is that. I'll be there in the Philippines for about five weeks. Other plans include meeting old friends and possibly new ones, and catching up with the news from other people. It'll be fun. I am already excited. And that is a good thing.
