Berlin Boogie: Altes Schloss Charlottenburg

The Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin. It is actually very close to where I live, just a few subway stops away. There are several components to this palace, and I visited them all with a day ticket. For this blog entry, I am chronicling only the Old Castle, or Altes Schloss.

This castle is the only surviving residence of the Hohenzollern family. Before seeing this, I had no idea about Prussian royalty at all, so the audio guides were very helpful. I spent quite a few hours in the complex, and in the end, I learned quite a bit.

I am not sure I can do a good job imparting the facts and infos I gleaned during my visit. So I will just post a selection of pictures I have taken. I do hope you enjoy them.

So here are some pictures for the Altes Schloss. For my next post, I will show some pictures of the other parts of the castle complex.

    1. Zhu,

You're right, seeing palaces has always been a highlight of my previous trips to Europe, whether it's Schonbrunn in Austria, or Kronborg and Egeskov in Denmark, or the Prague Castle in the Czech Republic.
