Meebo Shuts Down Tomorrow

So, it seems that upon being acquired by Google, Meebo is shutting down. Now that sucks. That means I don't have a single platform where I can go and chat to my friends in Facebook and Google and Yahoo and AOL. Now, if I want to chat with them, I have to go to these individual sites and log in individually.

Now that sucks. Hence, I don't like this move.

So I snooped around, and voila! I found Trillian. It's pretty much the same, and better. It allows you to chat with people across several different platforms, but only using one program. I like that. So I installed it Trillian, and I uninstalled Meebo.

See, what I don't understand is why whenever there are buy-outs like these, the company that buys the other company shuts down perhaps what might be a good idea. No, I know. It's because Google wants everybody to be on Google Plus, and chat there.

Yeah, as much as I am enamored by Google products, Google Plus is something I am not a fan of. I'm fine with Facebook as it is.

  1. I had never heard of it! Funny.

    1. Zhu,

It's very convenient especially when you have multiple people using multiple different programs to chat. Meebo and Trillian allows one to consolidate these and lets you just sign in on one thing.
