The other day, I was wondering what to write here. Then I realized how much things have changed here. There was a time when I was excited to write down almost everything that has happened to me, from the grandiose to the mundane. Nowadays, that is not the case anymore. 12 years later, it seems that I have a small set of things that I write about.
There's my travelogues. I travel quite a bit, and so I write about the places I have been to, and post my pictures. Of course, I write about them delayed. Take my trip to Iran for example. I went to Iran for three weeks in September and October last year, but I only started writing about it in November, and it's already spring and I am still not done. Not that I am in a hurry.
There's also my book reviews. I read a lot, devouring about 20 books a year.
Aside from that, I don't have any other running series. Sometimes I write about social and political commentary, mostly against religion and conservatism. Sometimes I write about little things here and there about Berlin and about other things underneath the sun.
Now where are my private issues? Those are now all sequestered away, as only people who are close to me have access to that. Ever since I left Facebook in 2014, I have learned to communicate using other means. My social circle has shrunk, but I interact with the people who remained on a deeper level now. I meet up with them personally, I talk to them over the phone, or I write letters.
I figured if you're not in my social circle, then there's no reason why you should have access to my inner thoughts. Heck, everyone wants a piece of your personal information nowadays, even US border control, who wants to unlock your phone when you enter the United States. I don't think you'd want that. So why would I unlock my entire brain and have everyone read it?
So yeah, things are being depersonalized here. I might even break my publishing rhythm. But we'll see. I still like publishing my photos. So that at least will remain.
