Before I left Zittau, there was one last area which I opted to visit. This was the Pop-Art-Viertel, or the Pop Art Quarter. It is a small neighbourhood a little bit south of the Old Town, where apartment blocks from the mid-20th century were renovated (at least on the outside) in a way that displays artwork. It is not necessarily my idea of beauty, but hey, it makes the area slightly different and quirky.
In this neighbourhood, you would find statues attached to the walls of buildings, floating human-sized sculptures, double helix structures connecting buildings in mid-air, and many other things. It also has a very colourful vibe, so hopefully the residents also have colourful lives behind these walls.
I especially found the floating animals rather amusing. In any case, I spent some moments walking around this neighbourhood checking out things. Afterwards, I headed back to the train station slowly and went back to Dresden.
