Saxony in the Summer: St.-Johannis-Kirche

After visiting the cultural and historical treasures of Zittau in its state museums, I ventured further in the town centre. And at some point, I stumbled upon a massive church right in the middle, the St.-Johannis-Kirche.

From the outside, it looks rather modern. That said, there has been a church in this location dating all the way back from 1291. Nevertheless, several things happened from that point onwards, including a total destruction in 1757. The current structure dates from the early 1800s.

I had the impression that the interior was rather new, and actually had designs that I could have imagined being produced in the early 20th century. In any case, I spent a few moments walking through its aisles and admiring the designs. No one else was there, so the place was relatively quiet.
