The last thing that I checked out before leaving Görlitz was the Barockhaus located in Neißstraße 30. This building is actually part of the Kulturhistorisches Museum in Görlitz, and the Barockhaus is an exhibit showcasing the house of a rich person as it would look like back in the 1720s. It is in a very striking location in the Old Town, so definitely it is a property that only well-off people could afford.
I procured myself a ticket and slowly explored the various rooms of this large house.
It is not a palace, but there was definitely a palatial feel to the house. It probably would have been too big for me. The furniture is too old-fashioned. The bed has pillars. But in any case, I am sure back then this was the fashionable thing to own.
What I found most impressive however was the library. There was this room at the back of the house, which consisted of bookshelves after bookshelves one after another, all filled with books. I was browsing the titles, and actually took some time to observe the collection. The room definitely exudes an ancient aura, but that I definitely found rather fascinating.
After exploring this museum, I headed out, and checked out other areas of the Old Town. But at some point, I started heading back to the train station, and then took the train back to Dresden.
