Meandering in Madrid

Last Christmas, we spent a short amount of time in Madrid. We wanted to do a short holiday, and given the Covid-related restrictions, it was slightly hard to find a suitable destination. Eventually, given the local restrictions, we opted for doing a 4-night stay in Madrid, after which we would head to Budapest to visit family for the holidays. This new set of posts are for the Madrid part of the trip.

Actually, we had a different plan. We originally wanted to try this whole remote working thing. The original plan was to spend a week and a half in Prague, working remotely in an apartment. We wanted to take the train from Berlin to Prague, and then later on take the train onwards from Prague to Budapest. But the Covid incidence rates in Prague were skyrocketing, so we cancelled that, and we looked for a location with better incidence rates, as well as good connections to Budapest. Hence we settled on Madrid, buying flight tickets almost at the last minute.

We found a suitable place to stay which was in a good location. And we mostly just ate. We did do some sight-seeing, but to be honest, I think we could have done better. In any case, it was a nice sampler regarding what Madrid is like as a city, and I would definitely want to come back and explore a little bit more. Pictures, of course, will follow, so stay tuned.
