Year 18

Wow, I am starting my 18th year of blogging!

So my blog is still around, and it's been around long enough that it is now an adult. I am still am using it as an extension of my brain, with my old habits of chronicling my trips and excursions, my book reviews, my theatre and musical performances still going strong.

Life is doing well, although there are political developments around the world that make it depressing every now and then. Personally, however, I cannot complain. I am vaccinated and boostered. I have gotten naturalised. I am slowly refocusing on career development, something which I have paused for the last two years as I have used a lot of my capacity in surviving the pandemic. Aside from that, I do not have any major big projects for now.

Regarding travel, this past year was better than the previous one. I took the train and ventured into Poland and Bavaria during the summer, and I even spent two weeks in Tuscany in the autumn. Before Omicron happened, we were in Madrid for a few days before the Christmas holidays in Budapest with family. In February, I came back to Budapest to try out this new concept of remote working. And in March I went to Dublin for a long weekend (increasing my country count to 51). But perhaps the most exciting travel development was taking a long-haul trans-Atlantic flight again, when we flew to Los Angeles for a 2-week trip.

So yeah, I suppose things are slowly going back to normal. I have to say though, there are still plenty of things that would be nice if they changed, but alas, those are unfortunately beyond my control, and I have to just dodge them and navigate my way around them as best as possible.

So this is the beginning of Year 18. Again, I still don't know how long I'll keep this blog up, but for the moment, it will stay. It's a nice distraction anyway.

So there, onward to Year 18. I hope you'll still hang around.
