El amor en los tiempos del corona: Finally Getting Covid

Finally, I got Covid a few weeks ago. It was mild. But I actually tested positive on my birthday, out of all days.

Two days before my birthday, I already felt like my throat was slightly sore. Just slight. Say, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is super sore, it was just a 3. It started on a Saturday, and on Sunday I tested myself since the slight sore throat didn't go away. The test was negative. And since I otherwise felt okay, we even went out to have dinner in a fancy restaurant, given that the day after would be my birthday.

Then Monday came, and I woke up feeling slightly off, more than the previous two days. I already decided to work from home, as I otherwise typically work from the office. Then in the afternoon, when I tested myself, it finally came out positive. Ta-da!

I called in sick two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. I didn't have extraordinary symptoms, and I thought that I have had worse colds than this one. On Tuesday I felt cold and shivering, but that was nothing an extra blanket couldn't solve. And on Thursday, I felt fine enough so I worked again, remotely of course.

I tested myself every two days, and only on the next Sunday did I test negative again.

My taste was blunted for a while - I remember eating sushi on Friday, and while I could definitely distinguish the various different fish textures, the taste was very blunt. Thankfully, that was a temporary situation, and the following weekend, I got my taste fully recovered. And since I tested negative already, I went back to work a week after I tested positive the first time.

So yeah, Covid finally caught up with me, 2 years after it turned our lives upside down.
