On my final day in Dublin, it was raining. It was quite a rainy day so I definitely had to go indoors or else I would be soaked. So I headed to the National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology. I wanted to see some mummies.
There's plenty of archaeological objects on display here. I spent about an hour or two gazing at the exhibits.
There's a substantial collection of Celtic and Viking jewelry, as depicted by the photos above. I found the size of these pieces rather fascinating. I mean, who would have thought that wearing such massive pieces of metal on one's body would be a fashion statement?
I also saw quite a bit of clay pots, dating from the prehistoric age. I also saw the Corleck Head, from the 1st or 2nd century AD. This is a three-faced stone head found in County Cavan in the mid-19th century.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the exhibit is the bog bodies. There are several exhibited here - all are from the Iron Age. It was a fascinating section of the exhibition I must say.
This wraps up my brief visit to Dublin. After having lunch, I slowly made my way to the hotel to pick up my small luggage, and from there I headed back to the airport to catch my flight back home. Of course, there's a new series coming up, needless to say, so stay tuned.
