Our visit to the Los Angeles area was wrapping up, but we still had a few remaining days to chill and explore. On one of these days, we went back to Long Beach to explore the neighbourhood a little bit more in detail, and one of the things we checked out was the Museum of Latin American Art. This museum is remarkable as it is the only museum in the USA that is dedicated and completely focused on art from Latin America.
After parking our car in the parking lot, we made our way to the entrance to gain tickets. We saw the temporary exhibitions as well as some of their permanent collection.
There was a section of the museum that displayed several pieces involving the Robert Kennedy, in various poses and situations.
Then, there was this video about a football game, initiated by a Salvadorian artist. According to the explanation, the football game is supposed to symbolise the unequal relationship between the United States and Latin America, as the game involved using elements that were rather handicapped, like a ball with defects, some physical hindrances, and many other things. The artifacts of that game that happened in a public park in California (if I remember it happened in Los Angeles) are displayed in the museum.
There was the permanent collection, which featured plenty of interesting artwork, and there was also a temporary exhibition that showcased the costumes from the musical "West Side Story".
What I thought the most interesting was, however, was the outdoor sculpture garden. This was fun, as it consisted of very intriguing pieces, displayed in the open air.
After spending about an hour or so in this museum, we headed out and explored the rest of Long Beach.
