I went back to Montjuïc. After all, there's a famous Catalan artist that until now I haven't really paid attention to: Joan Miró. I've seen several of his pieces in the past, yet I just didn't get to visit the museum dedicated to him. So on my day off, I decided to head to Montjuïc Hill to visit the Fundació Joan Miró.
Given that I was staying in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, I easily reached this museum by taking a bus from Plaça d'Espanya. And after just a few minutes, one is at the entrance of the museum. I procured a ticket, and explored the very interesting collection.
As you can see, Joan Miró was a surrealist artist. I cannot say that I understand his works, nevertheless, there is a part of me that find them fascinating. He juxtaposed shapes in ways that hypnotise the viewer, I should say. I especially liked the items that featured burnt material.
Aside from his works, I also found the mercury fountain by Alexander Calder quite intriguing. It is kept behind glass, as after all, mercury is poisonous. But seeing liquid metal flow was just quite stellar.
So yes, check this place out. It's a great place to get to know one of Catalonia's fascinating artists.
