As mentioned in my previous post, I headed over to Posadas after spending time in Puerto Iguazu. Posadas is actually a rather nice city on the Paraná River, just across the city of Encarnación, Paraguay. I spent a few nights here while exploring the area.
I did a day trip to San Ignacio, and I even had plans to cross the border to Paraguay to check out Trinidad, which was another Jesuit mission, but after spending some time already in San Ignacio Miní, I didn't feel like going through the bureaucracy of going to another country and exchanging some money, just to see more of similar things. So I stayed a bit in Posadas instead and explored the city.
I took long walks exploring the city while I was there, and found plenty of little statues and sculptures dotting the cityscape. Heck, there's even something that was related to Ukraine.
There's also a big plaza with the Argentinian flag, as well as the city's name in big block letters, in case people wanted to take their pictures.
I loved the riverfront: this area was rather stylish, and I enjoyed a few dinners on some restaurants here. The evenings were cool, and it was absolutely a fantastic place to take a little stroll. One can see Paraguay on the other side of the river.
There is also the Falkland Islands Memorial, standing in the middle of the road.
Finally, I even stumbled upon the huge monument of Andresito Guacurarí, an indigenous governor of the province from the early 1800s. It looked slightly a bit alien, given the texture of the sculpture, but I suppose it's art.
After spending a short time here in Posadas, I eventually packed my bags, and moved on.
