When I visited Montreal, the weather was very agreeable. Hence I took the opportunity to explore the city's outdoor side. One morning, I ventured out to Outremont, an affluent neighbourhood. I wanted to see what life in general feels like in this town.
I actually stopped by a farmer's market beforehand, and I must say it was an amazing experience. Alas, I was too early and not hungry enough to sample what the market had to offer, so I skipped all the food items that I could have tried while visiting. Instead, I just passed by and headed to Outremont, which was a relatively long walk, but hey, I was a tourist, so walking ain't so bad.
I found a rather nice park in the middle of stately houses. There was a war memorial, grandiosely built on one side of the square park.
There was also a rather nice pond right in the middle. I must say, this was a nice neighbourhood, and the houses around it were also quite fancy. Aside from that, I also noticed what seemed like a Hasidic Jewish community, with relatively large families, wearing black, and men and boys having the typical hairstyle.
I walked further and explored the rest of the neighbourhood, which actually is dotted by several parks, including another one which has another pond, which functions as a skating rink during the winter.
Eventually, I found the little main street which was lined with several restaurants and other establishments. I wasn't hungry at all, so I just went to an ice cream shop and found maple syrup ice cream, which was worth trying.
