Ok, that was cheeky. I am choosing Cavorting in Canada as the title of my next series of travelogues, yet to be honest, I have only been to two places in Canada for the duration of this trip. I spent 5 days in Montreal, followed by 4 days in Toronto. And saying that I have cavorted in Canada by visiting these two cities is a massive stretch. But do allow me this stretch, at least, after all, the alliteration is great.
So yes, I took a week and a half to visit these two places. I had a slightly different motive for travelling this time: I wanted to meet friends. As I have recently realised, travel is not always about selfish reasons. People travel to visit family so many times. And it's just because of some extraordinary personal circumstances that this mode of travel hasn't been too applicable for me. In any case, I also realised that I need to see my friends a little bit more often. So I made my way to Canada to do so.
Montreal was the sight-seeing part. I was alone here, discovering a new city for me. I enjoyed it, and even if I won't go and say that it was like a North American version of Paris, it still was fun. It definitely felt like a North American city, at least in my opinion, who just sometimes speaks French every now and then.
After five days in Montreal, I flew to Toronto. This was less about sight-seeing but more about hanging out with friends. I have close friends across the border, in Buffalo, where I lived for 7 years. And I managed to convince these friends to drive up to Toronto and hang out for the weekend. This was a great time. Not to mention that Toronto has been my happy place, a great city that kept me sane while spending 7 years in graduate school in Buffalo.
Pictures will come, of course. Stay tuned.
