We've arrived in Antequera. This is the final stop of our road trip, before we fly out. We spent a couple of nights here, in a secluded five-star hotel outside the city. One definitely has to have a car to reach this accommodation, but I must say, it was well worth it. And while we were there, we visited a few sights within the city. One of them is the dolmens of Antequera.
The dolmens of Antequera are megalithic burial sites. There's a certain mystique to these sites, as they seem to be geometrically positioned in a very deliberate way. The entrances for example are aligned with either the celestial bodies, or with large geographical landmarks, such as mountains. In any case, we visited this site one morning to find out more.
I have seen several similar sites before, in particular in Malta. They always involve massively large rocks, and quite a simple interior. The dolmens in Antequera are similar in design. Then again, I am not an archaeologist, and so I wouldn't be sensitive to how these structures differ from each other.
