For our third castle, we checked out the Takamatsu Castle. I mean, it's right next to the city's major train stations, so it was definitely eye-catching. This also allowed me to compare and contrast the various castles that we have visited along the way.
Takamatsu Castle is also known as Tamamo Castle, or the Seaweed Castle, as it is right next to the water. Nowadays it is a public park.
As you can see above, the water features a lot in the construction. The moat has this emerald green water surrounding the various structures, and there are bridges that connect the numerous sections of the castle. We stayed outside of the still-remaining structures, as those seem to be not open to the public. Nevertheless, the garden surrounding these buildings are still quite interesting to explore.
I suppose there is a common aesthetic when it comes to Japanese castles. However, different castles have different states of preservation I suppose. Osaka Castle was large and hyped, but rather crowded. Tokushima Castle was more or less destroyed. But Takamatsu Castle still has a pleasant garden that isn't overflowing with visitors.
