The last item we wanted to visit before moving on from Hiroshima was the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, also known as the Hiroshima MOCA. It is a sleek modern art museum, located within an expansive park.
We simply took a leisurely walk from our hotel to get there, as the public transportation options were not too optimal given where we were. And after twenty minutes of walking as well as climbing a little hill, we found it.
I learned that this museum is actually the first public contemporary art museum to open in Japan. The focus of the artworks is on post-1945 pieces, contemporary emerging artists, as well as artworks that link contemporary art with Hiroshima.
The museum was actually an interesting experience. We were spending a few hours there checking out the various exhibits, and I have to say, the artists were definitely creative, and made me think.
