Hiking season started again. One weekend in March, the temperature was warm enough, which I somehow define as being higher than 12 degrees. So I took out my hiking boots, my hiking sticks, and my hiking app. And I picked up the E10 in Wustermark, where I left it off last year.
I didn't want to over-exert, given that this is the first weekend I would be hiking this year. So I just decided to do a rather short segment, the segment from Wustermark to Brieselang. I have actually been on this segment in the past: I checked my records and indeed, this segment is part of the 66 Lakes Trail, which I have completed. I was here the last time in 2018.
It was spring, and while the sun was shining occasionally, it was still slightly crisp and chilly. I better move in order to warm myself.
At some point, I reached the village of Zeestow, and in this village there happens to be an Autobahnkirche, or a Highway Church. I wonder if there really are travellers with their cars getting off the Autobahn to worship here. It looked deserted, at least when I was there.
And then I reached the Havelkanal. This canal was constructed in order to provide an alternative path for the Havel River, bypassing its original path which goes through West Berlin. During the division of Germany after World War II, this was a crucial element.
I saw some weird tree, with round balls of leaves attached to it. I wonder how it forms such things.
Eventually, I reached Brieselang. I haven't been here since 7 years. But here we are, on the E10. I'll pick it up again from this point to continue forward.
