On my third hiking day, I stumbled upon yet another castle. This time, it was Burg Schönburg, in Oberwesel.
It's an expectation on the Rheinburgenweg to stumble upon a castle along the way. After all, the name of the hiking trail includes references to castles. So on my way from Bacharach to Oberwesel, I checked this castle out.
I didn't explore the interior of this castle, as I felt I had enough of castle interiors. However, I did explore the grounds, as after all, there are pretty views of the surroundings, as well as the interesting castle architecture that passersby can enjoy if they drop by. So that is what I did.
Eventually I finished exploring the grounds, and I continued my hike. I then descended to Oberwesel and took a train back to Mainz upon the conclusion of this leg.
