Interludes from Chinese Class: Anshun Bridge

One of the things I saw while in Chengdu was the Anshun Bridge. Literally, the name of the bridge means "Bridge of the Peaceful and Fluent". It contains a large restaurant.

It's a bridge that crosses the Jin River, and is located on the southeastern corner of Chengdu. It's popular enough that I saw a few foreign tourists checking it out as well, while I was there. I didn't check out the restaurant.

I learned that Marco Polo actually wrote about an earlier version of this bridge, when he visited in the 13th century. There has been several subsequent versions of the bridge, and this latest one is in place since 2003. I wandered around it, and even explored the surrounding neighbourhoods, where there are interesting bars, restaurants, as well as salons where one can have one's ears cleaned, in typical Chengdu style.
