After checking out the Acropolis Museum, we went underneath the building. There's another museum just under the building, and it's actually an archaeological dig!
Athens has plenty of archaeological sites, as expected. And this one is one of them. The Excavation Museum is located right underneath the large new building which hosts the Acropolis Museum. They have built the building in a way that doesn't damage the historical structures underneath.
This reminds me of the Museum Hotel in Antakya, which I visited in 2022. It has the same concept, where a modern structure sits atop a historical structure, and the modern structure is built in a way that the historical structure underneath is preserved and accessible.
After spending a little bit of time looking at the exhibitions, we slowly made our way out and explored the city further.
