Interludes from Chinese Class: Gudashengci Temple

One morning, when I had plenty of time to kill before my Chinese class, I went to a nearby temple. The Gudashengci Temple was a short walk away, and it was also the Lantern Festival, so there was increased activity. I wanted to check it out.

The Lantern Festival is the last day of the Lunar New Year celebrations, and it apparently involves people lighting up candles and other light-bearing objects in temples. So when I visited, the temple was full of these things, as you can see below.
I actually visited this temple one more time at a later date, and there was a significant difference in the amount of people visiting. During the Lantern Festival, the temple was full, and there were tables and tables of candles. But on my second visit, it was practically empty.
