After exploring the Parc de la Ciutadella, I chilled a little bit in my room, and afterwards I headed over to El Raval, which is the neighbourhood containing the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, or MACBA. This is a contemporary art museum that is located in the plaza that is perhaps most famous for skaters. There definitely are plenty of skaters doing their thing in front of this building. Anyway, that wasn't the focus of my attention.
There were plenty of crazy pieces in the museum, and I must say I cannot claim that I understand them all. However, what I did enjoy was seeing how human creativity can be extended to all different directions. There were concepts that were rather abstract, but some very creative artist took it and expressed it in ways that one could never imagine.
I not only looked at artwork in the form of paintings, but also videos and movies. There were also some pieces that allowed the viewer to experience it in three-dimensional ways, since it was so huge you could even enter it, and in fact, you are invited to enter the artwork.
I always enjoy art museums, because even though I don't fully understand what I see all the time, I still feel that these things are what makes us human, and I enjoy experiencing how other minds express things they want to express.
If you're in Barcelona, I definitely recommend this place. Check it out if you have the time.
