My Fourth Visit to Spain: Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza

While in Seville, I opted to visit a bullring. I didn't want to see a bullfight, but nevertheless I wanted to check out and see what a bullring looked like. The Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza happens to offer tours, so we checked it out one afternoon.



The tour begins by checking out the fighter's quarters, where an exhibit of bullfighting-related paintings are shown. Beyond that, there's the rooms that fighters inhabit before a fight, and traditional bullfighting paraphernalia are also displayed.



After checking out the interior, we are presented the bullring, which is a vast area. We were there during the late afternoon, so the sun was slowly setting down. The benches are made of bricks, and yes, I do wonder what it would be like to see a bullfight in this very traditional arena.
