Two weeks ago, I wrote about how I was excited to see snow again. It turned out that winter was here with us for a while, since for the last two weeks, we actually had a blanket of snow, and the temperatures were way below freezing, hovering at around -10 Celsius. In Berlin, that hasn't been the norm for winter recently, so even though it was indeed freezing cold outside, I was quite happy to see a different weather.
Funny enough, if I were still living in Buffalo, these freezing temperatures would have been normal, and so I probably would have been complaining of how cold it was, but this time, it was a novelty and actually a welcome change to what had been warm winters in the past recent years. Last year for example, we didn't see any snow during the entire season. So this time, the two weeks of white was indeed a welcome change.
It started melting around this time, now that temperatures are climbing up again. So the white landscape is slowly turning back to grey and green, and hopefully this also slowly paves way for spring. I definitely am looking forward to being out and about again, and even though there are still contact restrictions, I have plenty of ideas on how to spend time outdoors while still social distancing.
