The Dubliner Long Weekend: Alongside the Liffey

As with many major European cities, there is a river that flows through Dublin. This is the River Liffey, which eventually flows towards Dublin Bay. I took a stroll alongside its banks one afternoon.

As is perhaps expected, the banks of the river contains many modern-looking buildings. I suppose everyone likes the riverside view nowadays.

There are a few architectural highlights alongside the Liffey. Of course, there are the glass buildings, but there's also the Samuel Beckett Bridge, which looks like a harp. Yes, it is a bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava. I haven't heard of any architectural deficits however, unlike his other works. Then again, perhaps I am not looking close enough.

The Dublin Docklands area is a neighbourhood of great interest, as there are plenty of modern buildings. It's perhaps cool to be in this area, and property prices are rather high. There's also plenty of modern-looking office buildings.

Eventually, I walked back into the city, passing by the Customs House. I would later visit this building during my visit, to take refuge from the rain.
