So, I went back to Vietnam. And I also visited Cambodia for the first time. It was fun!
Back in 2018, I spent three weeks in Vietnam. It was a fun trip. And back then, I already thought that I wanted to come back. Vietnam is a large country, and the three weeks I spent back then was not enough to see the things I wanted to see in this country. So seven years later, I decided to come back. And somehow, I also managed to incorporate Cambodia - a new country - as part of this visit.
On the 14th of February, I headed from Berlin to Frankfurt by train. This is the first time I am flying out of an airport that is not from my home airport. I had a Rail and Fly ticket, which connected a train ride to my flight booking. Four hours later, I reached Frankfurt uneventfully, and I even had the chance to have brunch before heading to the airport. And then I took a long-haul flight, flying to Ho Chi Minh City, by way of Dubai.
Ho Chi Minh City was my first stop, and I spent three nights here as a start. I also met up with friends who were in the area, in addition to sight-seeing. And three nights later, I flew to Siem Reap, where I stayed for 5 nights. This was a great base to chill as well as to explore the massive extensive ruins of Angkor Wat.
After 5 nights in Cambodia, I headed back to Vietnam, by flying to Da Nang. And from there, I slowly made my way along the coast, starting from Hoi An, and then to Da Nang, and then to Hue, and finally to Dong Hoi. I saw plenty of fascinating things, such as quaint old town villages, imperial cities, and amazing caves.
From Dong Hoi, I flew back to Ho Chi Minh City, and a few days later, it was time to catch my flight back to Europe. Again, it was a long-haul flight, heading to Frankfurt, by way of Dubai. And after landing in Frankfurt, I took the train again, which whisked me back to Berlin.
It was a fun three weeks! I managed to escape the winter a bit. And while there were some ups and downs in the trip, overall it was still massive fun!
