Wow, I am starting my 21st year of blogging!
So my blog is still around, and it's been around long enough that if it were an American citizen, it is now old enough to drink. As usual, I am still am using it as an extension of my brain, with my old habits of chronicling my trips and excursions, my book reviews, my theatre and musical performances still going strong.
Life is still going well, I suppose. I don't have any personal challenges that I have to dearly cope with. Social issues worrying everyone are still here, and sometimes I have the thought that perhaps there's a major life project that should result out of it, like for example, immigrating to a new country. However, nothing is concrete at this point, and in general I still enjoy where I am here in Europe. The general focus to chase happiness is still there, of course. Career development is still a focus, and I am definitely widening my scope whenever I can. I still enjoy what I do at work, and thankfully, I do not feel I am burnt out at all. This is a good sign.
As before, I still debate with myself every now and then whether I would want to keep this blog. But I suppose there is definitely the value of it being an extension of my brain. I have caught myself several times in the recent past consulting my blog just to remember a thing or two from the past. After all, I am ageing, so I cannot fully trust my organic brain nowadays. My blog is a better memory sometimes.
Regarding travel, it is a healthy part of my schedule. Late summer last year, we were in Japan for three weeks. Then there was the two-week-long remote work episode in southern France. Earlier this year in the spring, I spent 3 weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia. And there was the week in China during Easter. Not to mention the small trips here and there which I do occasionally to chase cultural events, in my pursuit of happiness. So overall, life is good.
So this is the beginning of Year 21. Again, I still don't know how long I'll keep this blog up, but for the moment, it will stay. It's a nice distraction anyway.
So there, onward to Year 21. I hope you'll still hang around.
