After spending time in Hue, I headed over to Dong Hoi. I used Dong Hoi as a base to explore the caves in Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng National Park. This was a fantastic place, and the first thing I checked out was Phong Nha Cave.
I joined a tour to explore this place, as it was the easiest option to do so for a solo traveler. The tour group picked me up from my hotel, and we headed to the caves as a full day trip. During the morning, we started with Phong Nha Cave, and this was definitely a fun experience.
To visit Phong Nha Cave, one has to ride a boat. It is a cave with a river inside after all, and one basically goes on a small boat that is navigated by a human, carefully floating inside. There is a motor, which is used outside the cave, but once inside, the motor is turned off and the human just navigates the boat similar to how gondolas are navigated in Venice.
Oh, the caves were fantastic, and after the boat ride, there was a small section which we can walk. I definitely enjoyed this part too.
After this cave, we headed over for lunch. And afterward, we visited another one, a very spectacular cave I must say. Stay tuned.
