Cavorting in China: Three Pools Mirroring the Moon

So we learned that one of the most iconic views of China was in Hangzhou. This scenery is called Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, and is seen from the little island within the West Lake. So we decided to check it out.

We had to take a boat to get there. Everything was easy, and self-explanatory, assuming one has the correct app, and language skills. We bought our ticket simply by scanning some QR code with the universal app, and soon enough, we had a proof of purchase, which allowed us to board one of the boats that was heading in the direction we wanted to go to. And after a pretty ride, we were in this little island in the middle of the lake.

There is plenty of interesting scenic views in this place. However, the trick is to capture these views without the annoying crowds. There's just plenty of people, so it takes some creativity to capture the peaceful scenery, and convey the illusion that there are no other people with you. I saw several people capturing a scene that looked very similar to one scene that was depicted in one of their paper bills, and I also found it ironic that pretty much everyone uses cashless transactions in China, so people were trying to recreate a scene that is more or less extinct.

I saw plenty of beautfiful foot paths, bridges, rock formations, and many other fixtures. We even saw a small bamboo forest. We spent some hours wandering the area, and some of this was spent on waiting so that people would go away. In any case, China was pretty, and it has pretty landscapes such as this one, but one also needs to be patient given that there's just plenty of people trying to do the same thing as you.
