Donau-Panoramaweg: Leg 2 - Kelheim to Poikam (18 km)

I wanted to continue the Donau-Panoramaweg, which I started back in 2024. So for a week, I based myself again in Regensburg. And I picked up where I left off.

I took two buses which eventually took me to Kelheim. The goal was to go all the way to Bad Abbach.
I first started by exploring the Liberation Hall. I have enough photos of this monument and therefore am devoting a separate post for it later. In order to get there, I had to climb the hill where it was located, and in doing so, I also passed by a few interesting structures, shown above.
And then slowly I left the town of Kelheim. This trail then runs parallel to the Danube, and so there will always be a pretty river view next to it.
A few hours later, I passed by the Teufelsfelsen, which is this rock formation right on the Danube. It is absolutely pretty, and I heard that rock climbers actually find this an exciting place as well.

Now, I originally wanted to go all the way to Bad Abbach. But the weather was rather hot that day, and so I decided to terminate early. I stopped in a village called Poikam, which had a train station. From there, I caught the train back to Regensburg.
