Good news, boys and girls, next month I will be heading to Leuven!
Yes, I am attending another conference, this time, it will be held in Leuven, Belgium. A couple of months earlier, I submitted an abstract to a conference. I am listed as a first author. And a couple of weeks later, I received an email from the conference organizers that my abstract was accepted as an oral presentation in this conference. How awesome is that?
That means I will be giving a talk. And I am excited because this is the first time I am giving a talk about a topic that I have started working on after graduate school. In other words, this is new stuff. This is stuff I personally supervised, not stuff that I have worked on while being guided by a dissertation adviser. This is the real thing now, baby!
Because of that, I am a little excited and apprehensive at the same time. I mean, this is my own stuff now, and so all criticism will be mine, and so there's no adviser to fall back to anymore. But I guess that's also a good thing. Anyway, this means that I have to start preparing a set of slides for this talk.
Perhaps given my propensity for traveling, the only thing I am regretting is the fact that I have already been to Belgium, and therefore I am not adding a new country in my country count. Oh well, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
