North of the Market Square of Wrocław is the Wrocław Cathedral. I checked this out, as this is a major Gothic church in the city.
The St. John the Baptist Archcathedral is the seat of the Archdiocese of Wrocław and a landmark in the city. It is quite tall, and so it is hard to take a photo that encompasses the entire structure, unless you're probably using a drone.
The exterior is imposing, but somehow, it has a different feel compared to other Gothic cathedrals I have seen.
There is the primary hall, which is free for everyone to see, but I soon learned that this is actually not the prettiest part of the church.
I climbed the roof. Well, technically speaking, I used the elevator to go all the way to the roof. This is a ticketed area, and so I procured a ticket to get to the roof, in order to see the fascinating views of the surrounding neighbourhoods. It's great to see Wrocław from above!
And after I descended back to the ground, I checked out the chapels that are located behind the choir. These are also areas that require a ticket, and I have to say, given their beauty, I think the ticket was definitely worth it. As this was ticketed, there were not many people visiting it, which also gave a rather quiet experience when I was there.
Overall, this was a fascinating church, and I am glad to have checked it out.
