I used to read quite often. After all, this is the thing I used to always do while commuting to and from work. However, recently this habit has diminished, for various reasons.
First of all, some of you might remember that I have complained recently about the deteriorating situation of public transportation. One aspect of deterioration is the quality of fellow passengers. Sometimes, there are just passengers that are annoying and hard to tolerate. And so this doesn't really provide a suitable reading environment. So this situation is discouraging.
At the same time, there are times when I am commuting back home from work, and work has been rather stressful to the point that I do not feel I have energy to read further. So instead, I listen to music. This way, I use a different sensory mode and this definitely helps me to relax.
Additionally, I recently discovered the joys of using noise-cancelling wireless headphones. So this actually enables me to listen to more music nowadays, and in addition, I can also tune out the chaotic outside world, allowing me to ignore the weird people that are sometimes present during my commute.
And because I definitely like classical music, I have been listening to classical music of various types. Music that I didn't know, music that I am familiar with, music of composers I am trying to familiarise myself with. And this has led to the slowing down of my reading rate. And perhaps due to this, I am rather slow in blogging about the books I have read, as after all, I don't have much nowadays.
But that I okay. I still enjoy what I do and listening to music is also fun.
